The Full Story
DC Ceramics Studio is a small, boutique ceramics studio in Sunshine North, Melbourne. While I'm dedicated to producing a range of stunning home décor, I'm also pushing the boundaries to bring clay to life in different forms of firing, with my passion of Raku technique.
DC Ceramics Studio focuses on creating that individual piece you can't find anywhere else.
DC Ceramics Studio was founded in early 2021 by Diana Connell who had a vision to create bespoke ceramics. Located in Melbourne's West our talented team design a range of functional, handcrafted earthenware, stoneware and porcelain ceramics from our studio.
At DC Ceramics we offer hand-thrown pottery, every single piece has a unique, decorative beauty combined with functional simplicity.
Hi, I'm Diana Connell
The feeling of forming a lump of clay into a piece of art, knowing I’ve made something that will take pride in people’s homes is very rewarding. Each piece is made personally and with great care.
A love for creating art has helped me get through difficult stages of my life, from big landscape oil paintings to bespoke woodwork. Therefore, when my daughter gave me a bag of hand build clay and five pottery tools for my birthday in 2020, my family and friends all known pottery was going to become another artistic outlet for me.
After that first bag of clay, a pottery wheel was soon added. I would sit down with some music playing and lose myself in that moment. Pottery throwing came so naturally to me and the business was a natural progression from there. I brought a kiln, found the style that suits me and now I get the joy of watching something I poured love into at every step of the process go out and bring joy to others.
DC Ceramics Studio,
Personally, I want to reduce the impact on the environment of my business wherever possible.
Our work does not have a significant carbon footprint compared to mass produced ceramics, but that does not exempt us from thinking about and taking responsibility for our impact - no matter how small.
From Vision to Reality
This is my story.
